THE STORY
Every piece of wood has a previous life. On a construction site in British Columbia, that life ends in a skip. The Just Gerald Wooden Mallet is made from that wood — recovered before it disappears, turned into something that will outlast the building it came from.
Each mallet is hand-turned in BC by Gerald, or someone a lot like him. The head is shaped from the most characterful piece of recovered hardwood available — knots, grain variation, colour shifts, the marks of a previous life all intact. The handle is smooth and balanced. A leather Just Gerald wrap sits at the grip. No two mallets are identical. That is the point.
The application is entirely up to you. Crack a dungeness crab. Tap a chisel into a dovetail. Knock a tent peg into the ground at the campsite. Gently encourage a stuck drawer. The mallet does not judge. It just does the job with a satisfying weight and a sound that is deeply, inexplicably pleasing.
Each mallet is unique. The wood you receive will have its own grain, knots, and character. That is not a disclaimer — it is the whole point.
